Electronics Design Engineer
South Coast/ South East. Relocation possible.
£ negotiable
A qualification in electronics/electronic design “HNC or HND”, or someone who has been working in a similar environment with 3 to 5 years industry experience. Ideally this experience would be gained in the fire or security sector.
Good understanding of AutoCAD, ideally the 3D or similar package. Mechanical design is required as part of the role, an understanding of plastics moulding and design is required.
Experience with using a PCB layout software package such as Altium, PCAD, and Protel etc. PCB design and layout experience is a must, along with Gerber file and BOM knowledge.
Experience in producing work instruction, producing bill of materials and document control is required.
Able to work using his/her own initiative. A good great deal of interaction is required with production and the directors so good communication skills are essential.
Working knowledge of C, C++ programming would be a distinct advantage or a general understanding of software is required. Working knowledge of Microchips PIC and Atmel Tiny devices would also be a distinct advantage.
The role would suit a person with suitable industry experience that wishes to progress into a full R&D role and to manage the department on a day to day basis. A good all rounder rather than a specialist in a particular discipline is the basis for the candidate. The position could lead to a senior managerial role within the company. The candidate would need to be able to work on their own using their own initiative, and liaise with the Technical Director, Production Manager and Production Engineer. The candidate would also be required to produce full design documentation and keep project files for each product. Liaising with the appropriate approval bodies would be required for product approval, longer term as part of the role the candidate would be required to represent the company at fire industry working group committees. The candidate would also need to oversee the company technical support desk for general customer technical enquires and to support the company’s internal sales team.
Position would be permanent; salary would be based on experience. All other aspects of the role and any other benefits can be discussed at the time of interview.
