HJA and Portsmouth University

“Institute of Criminal Justice Studies (ICJS), University of Portsmouth and security recruitment consultancy ‘HJA Fire and Security’ have announced that HJA Director Mike Hurst would contribute to the forthcoming student induction programme in September 2011.

Mike would be working with the Institute to provide advice to its distance-learning student into areas such as   career progression, sourcing job opportunities, CV preparation, personal branding etc.
The recruitment advice would cover the domains of   electronic/ physical security, IS security and corporate security functions.

Mike Hurst has been recruiting in the security industry for 20 years and is a Fellow of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals.  He is Vice Chairman – Strategy of the UK Chapter of ASIS International (www.asisonline.org) and is a director of The Security Institute (www.security-institute.org).

Mike says, “I am very impressed by the professional calibre of the ICJS students, graduating in fraud and security degrees.  I am delighted to be making a small contribution to the work of Portsmouth University and hope that my experience of recruiting within security market can be of benefit to the students.”

Azeem Aleem, Principle Lecturer at the University commented, “Considering the economic market volatility, our distance learners are increasing getting worried about the potential job prospects.  To have one- one advice and mentoring access with one of the prominent names in the recruitment industry would be extremely beneficial to our students. Mike contribution will help minimise the gap in the understanding of the market needs and will help the University in mapping the professionalism within the fraud and security industry”.
